History

The Constitutional Cross (La Cruz Constitucionalista) was established by the Mexican government of President Carranza, in recognition of the Constitutional Army who defeated the federal forces under the command of Victoriano Huerta in 1916. The Constitutional Army sought to preserve the 1857 Mexican constitution.

The Cross was authorized with two classes, the Silver Cross and Bronze Cross. However, it is not clear if the composition of the Cross denotes the rank of the recipient.

Some versions may feature enamels; however, this information is not confirmed.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "From the Mexican Republic to the Army."
