History


The Cross for Matamoros (Cruz de Matamoros) was authorized by the Mexican government in 1852 in recognition of Generals, Chiefs, Officers, and troops belonged to the Army and the National Guard who fought against a large number of Indians warriors around Matamoros from 1851 to 1852.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "He didn't Succumb to the Fire in his House."
