History

The Cross for Mier (Cruz por Mier) was authorized by the government of Mexico in 1842, in recognition of the military personnel who fought against Texan militia at the port-town of Mier in 1842.

There were authorized two different crosses; the Cross was awarded to all the military personnel who participated at the battles; while, the General Ampudia Cross was awarded to those Generals who fought under command of General Ampudia.

The General Ampudia Cross features an obverse inscription that translate to "Distinguished Valor Expertise."
