History

The Cross for Persistence (Cruz de Perseverancia) was established by decree in 1926 to reward Mexican military personnel in recognition of uninterrupted periods of military service displaying excellent behavior. The Cross was granted to military personnel belonging to the Mexican Army, Navy, and Air Forces.

The Cross was authorized with four grades according with the length of service. I Class Cross was awarded in recognition of 35 years of service, II Class Cross was awarded for 30 years of service, III Class Cross for 25 years of service, and IV Class Cross for 20 years of service. The Cross enamel color is different according with the grade. The ribbon for each grade is also different.

The Cross was regulated and modified in 1945 when the time of service for each class was reduced five year. In addition, the V Class Cross was added for 15 years of service.

The awards for 40, 45, and 50 years of services were granted in Extraordinary Class grade. No version are known.

The suspension may display a heraldic eagle suspension for the high ranks, and a star suspension for lower ranks.

It is unknown the current status of the Cross.
