History


The Cross for Tekax (Cruz de Tekax) was instituted on November 7, 1857 in recognition of Captain D. Onofre Bacelis, and the Officers under his command, who led the garrison of Tekax against a Mayan Indians rose up on September 14, 1857.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translate to "The Fatherland Graceful for His Valor and Courage in Texak."
