History

The Cross for the Bombardment of Veracruz (Cruz por el Bombardeo de Veracruz) was instituted in Mexico by the liberal government of Benito Juárez, in recognition of the liberal military personnel who defended the city of Veracruz against a conservative siege and bombardment in 1860.

The Cross was authorized with two grade; I Class Cross in Gold was awarded to Officers, while II Class Cross in Silver was awarded to enlisted men.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that translates to "Bombardment of Veracruz."
