History

The Cross for Ulua (Cruz por Ulúa) was instituted by the Mexican government to reward the Officers who defended the Fort San Juan de Ulua during the bombardment of 1828 by a French fleet in their attempt to collect six million pesos as damages to foreign shops pillaged by rioters in Mexico City.
