History

The Emiliano Zapata Cross for "Plan de Ayala" (Cruz del Plan Amaya) was instituted by the revolutionary Mexican government in 1911. It was awarded to the troops under command of Emiliano Zapata, who fought at the Mexican revolution during the beginning of the 20th century.

Emiliano Zapata was a main revolutionary leader in the Mexican Revolution who wrote the "Plan of Amaya," a large-scale land form.

The Cross features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Revolutionary Army Plan Ayala, High Revolutionary Merit," and it has not reverse inscription.
