History

The Medal of Pachuca (Medalla de Pachuca) was instituted in Mexico by the liberal government of Benito Juárez, in recognition of the liberal military personnel who defended the city of Pachuca against conservative attack in 1861.

The Medal was authorized with two grade. The Gold Medal was awarded to Officers, while the Silver Medal in Silver was awarded to enlisted men.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "In the Defense of the Constitution, Victory in Pachuca on 25 October, 1861."
