History

The Cordova Star (Estrella de Córdoba) was authorized by the imperial regency of Mexico in 1822. It was awarded to the Ninth Insurgent Division of the Army of the Three Guarantees which defeated a royalist Spanish army at Cordova on May of 1821.

The Star features a clasp in the ribbon that depicts the inscription 9a Division (9th Division). The Star presents a reverse inscription that translates to "First year of the Independence." Some version lack the reverse inscription.
