History


The Army Air Force Flight Nurse Wings were authorized on December 15, 1943. The Wings were awarded to Commissioned Officers who were registered nurses and who have successfully completed training and advanced studies in aerospace medicine to qualify as a military flight nurse. The Army Air Force Flight Nurse Wings were later reinstituted as the Air Force Flight Nurse Wings with the establishment of the United States Air Force.
