History

The Civil Air Patrol Observer Wings were worn by members of the Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol (CAP) was initially established in 1941 but were amalgamated as an auxiliary unit of the United States Army Air Force in 1943. The Civil Air Patrol consisted of civilian volunteer pilots who used private equipment to perform wartime service during the Second World War. Civil Air Patrol Observers are qualified in technical subjects such as air navigation and radio communication and serve as mission commanders for aircrews performing search and rescue, homeland defence reconnaissance, and other missions.

The Civil Air Patrol Observer Wings are issued in 3 grades. Only the Master grade is featured here.
