History

The Naval Flight Surgeon Badge was initially established by the United States Armed Forces during the Second World War. The Wings were awarded to Commissioned Officers of the United States Navy who are licensed physicians, who qualify as medical officers, and who were certified as flight surgeons between 1941 and 1952. The Wings were awarded in recognition of completion of medical training, qualifications of study in aerospace medicine, and the completion of medical residency and basic air operations training.

There are multiple versions of the Wings which vary by composition.
