Of superb quality and high degree of rarity, an eight multi-rayed star with obverse centre depicting separately applied dragons, engraved inscriptions, and peach coloured coral, with alternating green and blue enameling, reverse with pin assembly, well marked on pin with ФР for Feodor Rückert, (who was of German origin, joined Carl Fabergé in 1887 and became a highly-regarded Fabergé workmaster), and St. Petersburg city mark, coral slightly loose, otherwise extremely fine.
This Order was instituted by Emperor Kuangsi in recognition of exceptional service to the throne and the Qing court. Originally, it was only awarded to foreigners, but in 1908 it was expanded to include Chinese citizens as well.
The II Class, II Grade was conferred upon III rank Diplomatic Envoys and Customs Commissioners.
The Republic of China replaced the Imperial Orders following its establishment in 1912.
