Of local manufacture in silver with eight hand etched rays, each with gilded recesses, centre consisting of two dragons circling a clear cabochon and red coral above, gilt Chinese characters surround, 'Thunder Cloud' suspension, including a hand filed elongated loop, on period ribbon with silver gilt catches, suspension ring bent.
This Order was instituted by Emperor Kuangsi in recognition of exceptional service to the throne and the Qing court. Originally, it was only awarded to foreigners, but in 1908 it was expanded to include Chinese citizens as well.
The V Class was conferred upon Businessmen and Traders.
The Republic of China replaced the Imperial Orders following its establishment in 1912.
