Republic of China (1912-1949)
Some facts about The Republic of China:
On 1 January 1912, the Republic of China was established. However, it was brief because, in 1914, Yuan Shikai dissolved the parliament and ruled as a dictator. The central government slipped control over China's policies, the country was shattered, provincial military governors and hundreds of warlords were fighting for influence. In 1921, the Chinese Communist Party was founded. China, along with the UK, the US, and the Soviet Union, were referred to as "trusteeship of the powerful “and were recognized as the Allied "Big Four" in the Declaration by United Nations. During the WW II began the Second Sino-Japanese War. In 1945, Taiwan returned to Chinese control, after the surrender of Japan. On 21 September 1949, Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China.
