Physical Description and Item Details


A sash badge in silver gilt with four white enameled arms each consisting of four individual rays, together with red glass surround affixed by four rivets, obverse center in silver.

History


This Order was established by Emperor Meiji in recognition of long, faithful civil or military service, or for meritorious civil or military service. It is conferrable upon men and women, who became eligible for this award in 1919. It may also be awarded posthumously.

In 2003, this Order was revised; it was decreased to 6 classes from the original 8.
