History

This was the first Malaysian Medal ever struck. It was instituted to commemorate Abu Bakar's assumption of the title and coronation as the Sultan of Johor. It was later reformed as an award for valuable services to the Royal Family. This medal became obsolete in 1928.

This medal features the cypher of the sultan with a wreath of gambier and pepper leaves and a crown above on the obverse.
