This decoration is also known as "Pingat Keberanian Handal" and is an award for gallantry and heroism.

This is a round silver medal. The obverse bears the design of crossed kris above the word "Perak" in Jawi with the Perak Crescent below. The reverse bears a surround of laurel leaves with the name of the medal in Jawi and the name of the recipient. The ribbon design is of thin diagonal stripes of white, yellow and red stripes.

Bars may also be awarded for subsequent acts of the same nature.
