History

This Order was established as a 3 class Order by President Ho Chi Minh on June 6, 1947. It was reorganized into a single class Order in 1981 and is currently an award of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Presently, it is awarded in only one class.

This Order was conferred upon civilians, military personnel, foreigners, and organizations in recognition of outstanding meritorious service and achievements in the fields of politics, economics, society, literature, science, art, security, defence, technology, diplomacy, and others.

The Order was redesigned in 2006.

It may be awarded posthumously.
