Physical Description and Item Details


A medal consisting of a ship wheel superimposed in the center of an anchor, the reverse is plain with the inscription VIETNAM within a border inscribed with HAI VU BOI TINH, on a blue, light blue and white striped ribbon.

History


This medal was awarded for serving in the Navy of the Republic of Vietnam.

The medal has three different versions.

The ribbon decoration signifies how many years the recipient has served.

The Honor Grade is for honorary service from someone not in the navy and has no ribbon decoration.
The Third Grade is for five years of service and is three stylized waves.
The Second Grade is for ten years of service and has two decorations of three stylized waves.
The First Grade is for fifteen years of service and is a compass rose and two decorations of three stylized waves.
