Physical Description


A multi-propellered medal constructed of bronze gilt, the obverse center bears an anchor, two crossed rifles and wings on a circular green enamel field, encompassed by a roped border, some of the propellers are in white enamel, the reverse is plain, the center is inscribed with VIETNAM encompassed by the inscription KY-THUAT BOI-TINH, on a blue-grey and red striped ribbon

History


This medal was conferred upon individuals who demonstrated extraordinary professionalism, initiative and devotion when performing technical duties while working as technicians, often in support of front line troops during the Vietnam War.

The I Class Medal is awarded to Commissioned Officers.

The medal is identical for each class, but the ribbon varies. The I Class ribbon is gray with 2 wide red vertical stripes and 2 narrow red vertical stripes.

It is also known as the Republic of Vietnam Technical Service Honours Medal.
