A Vietnamese Technical Service Medal; 1st Class for Officers - Bronze gilt with green and white enamels, 49 mm x 49 mm, original ribbon with dual prong pinback, the ribbon with two thread-like red stripes down the centre designating it as Officer, contact marks and gilt wear, very fine. Footnote: Awarded to military servicemen and civilians working as military technicians who have shown outstanding professional capacity, initiative, and devotion to duty.
This medal was conferred upon individuals who demonstrated extraordinary professionalism, initiative and devotion when performing technical duties while working as technicians, often in support of front line troops during the Vietnam War.
The I Class Medal is awarded to Commissioned Officers.
The medal is identical for each class, but the ribbon varies. The I Class ribbon is gray with 2 wide red vertical stripes and 2 narrow red vertical stripes.
It is also known as the Republic of Vietnam Technical Service Honours Medal.
