A Vietnamese Technical Service Medal; 2nd Class for NCO's and Enlisted Men - Bronze gilt with green and white enamels, 50 mm x 50 mm, lightly soiled original ribbon with dual prong pinback, the ribbon with no thread-like red stripes down the centre designating it as NCOs/Enlisted Men, contact marks and gilt wear, near very fine. Footnote: Awarded to military servicemen and civilians working as military technicians who have shown outstanding professional capacity, initiative, and devotion to duty.
This medal was conferred upon individuals who demonstrated extraordinary professionalism, initiative and devotion when performing technical duties while working as technicians, often in support of front line troops during the Vietnam War.
The II Class Medal is awarded to Warrant Officers and Enlisted Personnel.
The medal is identical for each class, but the ribbon varies. The II Class ribbon is gray with 2 wide vertical stripes.
It is also known as the Republic of Vietnam Technical Service Honours Medal.
There are versions of this medal that are locally manufactured and versions that are US manufactured.
