Physical Description and Item Details


Consisting of a cross pattee constructed of bronze, between the arms bears two dragons on crossed curved swords, the obverse center bears a circular medallion bearing the map of Vietnam within a wreath of palm fronds, with a ribbon superimposed with the inscription QUOC-GIA LAO-TUONG (In REMEMBRANCE OF OF A BRAVE DEED), the reverse is plain, with an ornate suspension, on a yellow and red striped ribbon.

History


This medal was conferred upon Vietnamese and foreign civilians, military personnel, troops and military organizations in recognition of courageous service in the face of the enemy.

It was awarded in 4 levels, which were represented by ribbon decorations:

1) Armed Forces - Gallantry Cross with Palm
2) Corps - Gallantry Cross with Gold Star
3) Division - Gallantry Cross with Silver Star
4) Regiment/Brigade - Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star

The obverse inscription translates to "Reward of the State".
