Physical Description and Item Details


Sash Badge in silver gilt eight white enameled arms, each with an extended finial, obverse centre in red and black enamels hand painted double headed Albanian eagle, reverse with date of establishment, measuring 51x70mm (inclusive of swivel crown, horizontally pierced integral ball suspension adorned by star), with minimal enamel contact, near mint.

History


The Order was founded by Prince Wilhelm Weid of Albania.

This Order was the highest title conferrable upon citizens of the Principality of Albania, and it was awarded to recognize civil and military merit.

The Order was discontinued on September 5, 1914, less than 5 months after it was founded, making it one of the rarest European Orders.
