History
This medal was instituted by the Presidium of the National Assembly and it was conferred upon high ranking civilians and military personnel within the Bulgarian People’s Army in recognition of long service.
When the medal was conferred upon military personnel it was awarded to recognize a minimum of 10 years of service.
When the medal was conferred upon civilians it was awarded to recognize a minimum of 15 years of service.
It was also awarded to foreigners in recognition of meritorious service to the Army.
The medal was designed by Raycho Peev, and it was discontinued in 1991.
