History

This medal was conferred in recognition of humanitarian efforts rendered during World War I, and for philanthropy and services to the Red Cross following the end of World War I.

The medal was originally awarded in two grades, Silver Medal and Bronze Medal.

In 1929, the Bronze Medal grade was discontinued, and a Gold Medal grade was added.

The Bronze Medal was issued once.

The Bronze Medals were awarded solely in recognition of philanthropy during World War I. They feature an obverse inscription that translates to “1915 Bulgarian Society of the Red Cross,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “For Gratitude.”
