This Order was originally founded during the Kingdom of Bulgaria in 1900, and it was re-instituted as an Order of the Republic in 2003.
It is conferred by the President upon Bulgarians and foreigner citizen for contributions to the development of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, and for long, faithful service.
The obverse inscription roughly translates to "For Military Service," and the reverse inscription translates to "Republic of Bulgaria."
