History

This Order was conferred to recognize the contributions of individual citizens and groups that helped foster socialism and socialist ideals in Czechoslovakia.

The badges were awarded by the President of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.

The Order was originally known as the Order of Building the Socialist Homeland, and it was changed to the Order of Klement Gottwald-for Building the Socialist Homeland on February 8, 1955.

When the name of the Order was changed, the design of the obverse and reverse medallions were also altered.

The badge was last awarded in 1989, and the entire Order was abolished in 1990.

The Type II badges feature the portrait of Klement Gottwald on the obverse.

There are two main versions of the Type II badges.

The badges awarded from 1955-1960 feature the inscription “ČSR” in the surmounting suspension, while the badges awarded from 1960-1989 feature the inscription "ČSSR" in the surmounting suspension.
