The Order was conferred upon Czechoslovakian citizens and groups in recognition of exceptional achievements and services within the field of production. This Order could also be awarded for strengthening socialism and the state's defence structures.
A total of 863 medals were issued before the Order was discontinued in 1989.
This Order features several variations in the design and composition of the medals.
The Type II medals were amended and given a new diamond shape, and they are numbered on the reverse.
