The Order was conferred to recognize merit within efforts to build the state via cultural, agriculture, economical, transport, social, scientific, and political services, and that furthered socialism within Czechoslovakia.
Recipients of the star were bestowed the title “Hero of Socialist Labour,” and it could be awarded posthumously to the family of the recipient.
This Order was awarded by the President of the Republic.
There are multiple variations within the design of this Title.
The two main versions feature different reverse inscriptions. Wherein the earlier awards feature "ČSR" on the reverse, and the awards minted after the late 1960s feature the "ČSSR" on the reverse.
Variations in the suspension and the number of grooves on the ribbon hinge are also known.
The reverse of the star is numbered.
