Czechoslovakia, Republic. An Order of the White Lion, III Class Commander, c.1935
Řád bílého lva. Instituted in 1922. In silver gilt with red, blue and black enamels, maker marked "KK" (Karnet & Kysely of Prague) and marked "900" (silver) on the obverse of the ring, measuring 59.5 mm (w) x 81 mm (h), chipping evident in the red enamels on the obverse of the arm at 12 o'clock and on the reverse of the arm at 2 o'clock, on its original full-length neck ribbon, near extremely fine.
The Order was officially known as the Czechoslovak Order of the White Lion from 1922-1990.
It was originally founded as an award to recognize meritorious actions that benefited Czechoslovakia by foreign citizens, and was later expanded to also include Czechoslovakian citizens.
The Order awards were awarded within two divisions, the Military Division and the Civil Division.
The Civil Division awards feature a pair of crossed palms within the wreath suspension.
The Military Division awards feature a pair of crossed swords within the wreath suspension.
The awards conferred after World War II feature a de-crowned lion on the obverse medallion.
The Order was designed by Spink & Son, London.
The III Class Commander is the same as the II Class Grand Officer Neck Badge.
