Rád Bilého Lva. Instituted in 1922. In silver gilt with red, blue and black enamels, maker marked "KK" (Karnet & Kysely of Prague) and marked "800" (silver) on the ring, measuring 44.2 mm (w) x 61.8 mm (h) inclusive of its wreath of linden leaves and crossed swords suspension, intact enamels, scattered gilt wear, rosette on its original ribbon, near extremely fine.
The Order was officially known as the Czechoslovak Order of the White Lion from 1922-1990.
It was originally founded as an award to recognize meritorious actions that benefited Czechoslovakia by foreign citizens, and was later expanded to also include Czechoslovakian citizens.
The Order awards were awarded within two divisions, the Military Division and the Civil Division.
The Civil Division awards feature a pair of crossed palms within the wreath suspension.
The Military Division awards feature a pair of crossed swords within the wreath suspension.
The awards conferred after World War II feature a de-crowned lion on the obverse medallion.
The Order was designed by Spink & Son, London.
The I Class is also known as the Grand Cross.
