History


The Medal was founded by the Minister of the Defence of the Czech Republic.

It is awarded to active military personnel and employees in recognition of meritorious service within international peacekeeping organizations, such as the United Nations.

This Medal is also conferred upon foreign nationals who have rendered exception military and civil services that have supported the aims of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic.

There are seven versions of this Medal, and each version features identical obverse and reverse medallion designs but are worn on unique ribbons.

The awards for General Service are worn on a ribbon with six blue stripes and five white stripes.

The awards for KFOR are worn on a ribbon with four light blue stripes, five white stripes, one dark blue stripe, and one red stripe.

The awards for Enduring Freedom are worn on a ribbon with four light blue stripes, five white stripes, one black stripe, one light green stripe, and one red stripe.

The awards for SFOR are worn on a ribbon with four light blue stripes, three white stripes, two dark blue stripes, one red stripe, and one yellow stripe.

The awards for ISAF are worn on a ribbon with four light blue stripes, five white stripes, one light green stripe, and one black stripe.

The awards for Iraq are worn on a ribbon with six light blue stripes, two white stripes, one red stripe, one light green stripe, and one black stripe.

The awards for Combat Missions are worn on a ribbon with six light blue stripes and five red stripes.

The I Class Medal is awarded for the successful completion of three peacekeeping missions or tasks.
