History

The Medal of Agricultural Merit was awarded to farmers and other Greek citizens for exceptional contributions to the Greek agricultural industry. It was discontinued in 1973.

There are two versions of the I Class Medal that differ in engraving and inscription. One version features an obverse inscription that translates to “Mother Earth,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “Agricultural Merit.” There is another version that features the portrait of King George II on the obverse with an inscription that translates to “Medal of Agricultural Merit King George II,” and a reverse inscription that translates to “Mother Earth.”
