History

The Red Cross Decoration (1916-1920) was awarded to Greek and foreign men and women for assisting the wounded or dying during, and immediately following the First World War. It was also conferred for distinguished service to the Hellenic Red Cross during the same period.

The Silver Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Hellenic Red Cross 1916-1920," and a reverse inscription that translates to "Macedonia, Epirus, Thrace, [unknown]." It could also be awarded an enamelled ribbon clasp. One clasp reads "METΩΠOY" (Front), and the other reads "EΠIΔHMIΩN" (Epidemics).
