History


The Royal Household Medal of was awarded to personnel of the Royal Household for long and faithful service.

There are a number of different versions of the Gold Medal that differ in engraving, inscription, and composition, according to the reigning monarch of the period. During the reign of King George I, 5 different models were awarded in two different compositions, for a total of 10 versions. They all feature the same obverse inscription that translates to "George I, King of the Hellenes 1881." The version awarded during the reign of King Constantine I features an obverse inscription that translates to "Constantine, King of the Hellenes." The Gold Medal was not awarded during the reign of King Alexander I.
