History


This cross was considered the highest award within Latvian defence organizations, and it was conferred to recognize exemplary heroism, training, and organization.

The cross was suppressed during the initial invasion of the Soviet Union, as well as during the subsequent control of Latvia by the Soviet Union until 1991.
