History


The Merit Cross was established by Presidential Decree in 2012 and is administered by the Minister of Defence. It is the highest award of the Moldovan Army.

It is awarded to military personnel of the Moldovan Army and civilian employees of the Ministry of Defence for outstanding military service, acts of bravery, contributions to strengthening international military relationships, excellent command and organisation of military operations, and otherwise meritorious service.

The III Class Cross is awarded in recognition of at least 4 years of meritorious service.
