This medal was issued in commemoration of the victory of the Montenegrin Army over the Turks in May 1858 at Grahovac.

The medal was awarded to members of the Montenegrin Army for acts of gallantry.

The obverse inscription translates to "For the Heroic Victory Over the Turks". The reverse inscription translates to "Grahovač, 1 May 1858" and "Danilo I, Prince of Montenegro".
