The Battle of Lenino Cross was established by the Polish People's Republic in 1988 in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the Battle of Lenino. It was administered by the Council of State until 1989 and was then awarded by the Republic of Poland until it was permanently discontinued in 1999.
It was awarded to all military personnel who participated in the Battle of Lenino, including those who died in combat.
