History


The Decoration for Merit to Education was established by the Council of Ministers in 1985. It was awarded by the Minister of Education to Polish citizens in recognition of meritorious service rendered to education in Poland. It was also awarded to Polish institutions and organisations, in which case a large table medal was awarded instead of the smaller decoration. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.

The Bronze Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "For Merit to Education."
