History

The Decoration for Meritorious Coaches was established by the Council of Ministers in 1985. It was awarded to athletic coaches in recognition of meritorious service and outstanding achievements. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.

There are two versions of the Gold Decoration that differ in reverse inscription. The first has a reverse inscription that can be translated to "Central Committee for Physical Education and Sport," and the second has a reverse inscription that can be translated to "Committee of Youth and Physical Culture." Both versions feature an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Meritorious Coach."
