History

The Decoration for Sport Champions was established by the Council of Ministers in 1985. It was awarded to Polish athletes who were national champions, European champions or world champions. It was also awarded to Polish athletes who represented Poland at least once at the Olympic games, or at least three times at world or European championships. It was discontinued following the collapse of the communist regime in 1989.

The Silver Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "Sport Champion."
