History


The Decoration for Merit in Geology was established by the Council of Ministers in 1997 as a replacement for the Decoration for Merit to Polish Geology that was awarded in the Polish People's Republic. It is currently awarded by the Minister of the Environment, Natural Resources, and Forestry to Polish citizens and foreigners for meritorious contributions to geology in Poland including the development and implementation of new technology.

The Gold Decoration features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "For Merit to Polish Geology."
