History

The Decoration for Merit to Tourism was established by the Council of Ministers in 1998 as a replacement for the Decoration for Meritorious Tourism Activists that was awarded in the Polish People’s Republic. It is awarded by the Minister of Sport and Tourism to Polish citizens and organisations, and foreigners in recognition of meritorious service to tourism in Poland.

There are two different versions of the Silver Decoration that differ in design, but both feature an obverse inscription that can be translated to "For Merit to Tourism."

See also the Decoration for Meritorious Tourism Activists (POL525) in the Medals & Decorations of the Polish People’s Republic (1944-1989).
