History


The Medal of Merit for Border Guards was established by the Republic of Poland in 2004 and is currently administered by the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration. It is awarded to members of the Polish Border Guard for distinguished service. It may also be awarded to other Polish citizens, as well as foreigners, in recognition of meritorious contributions and cooperation with the Border Guard including the implementation of new techniques and equipment, and cooperation in the protection of other international borders.

The III Class Medal features a reverse inscription that can be translated to "For Merit to the Border Guard."
