History

The Medal of the 50th Anniversary of the Romanian Communist Party was created in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Romanian Communist Party, which was later disbanded in 1989. It was awarded to members of the Romanian Communist Party for contributions to the Party and the implementation of its policies. It was also awarded in recognition of other contributions made to socialism in Romania.

The Gold Medal features initials on the obverse that stand for "Partidului Comunist Roman" (Romanian Communist Party) and a reverse inscription that translates to "50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Romanian Communist Party." It has a gilt clasp with an inscription that translates to "Fifth Decennial PCR."
