A Rare and Desirable award in silver gilt with white enamels, left-facing bust of Andrej Hlinka on the obverse centrepiece, inscribed "VERNI SEBE" above "SVORNE NAPRED" (Staying True To Oneself / Advance Together) and maker marked "FS" inside a circle on the reverse centrepiece, measuring 57.5x98mm inclusive of its torch and axes suspension, marked on wreath "987" silver as well as "K" makers mark, on its original full-length sash, intact enamels, edge nicks, scattered gilt wear, extremely fine.
This Order is conferred in recognition of civil and military merit.
There are two versions of this Order, a Civil division and a Military division, but the only difference between these two versions is the addition of swords to the Military division.
The Reverse inscription on the Grand Cross translates to "True to yourself, go forward".
